No, for real this time!! Okay I just agreed to make this lady’s pants for her son’s wedding…but after THAT!! And these two ladies’s shirts I’m doing for their wedding…Oh fuck it why is my life like this?!?
I made my first wedding dress when I was still in highschool, and have since been unable to convincingly say ‘no sorry, no more women’s wear’. I guess my mother and three older sisters instilled in me an absolute terror of disagreeing with a woman, ever.
But really I’m done, it’s just not my thing and as a business we need to specialize and become the best at tailoring. Why are you even angry though?!? When every second homo makes dresses?!? And in the entire of Pretoria there’re are only about 5 tailors?!? Just go bug someone else for your dresses in the future!.
I guess for the next year or two I’ll be making exceptions for women that are getting traditionally men’s garments like shirts, pants and jackets…but soon I’ll be killing this part of business too.
And I guess for as long as we offer an alterations service I’ll be altering dresses. But this maroon one was the one one I’ll ever make.
And I’m really proud of it and happy that it was my last dress.
In other news we’ve been having fun promoting this Shweshwe pocket square this Spring.
